Bollinger Band Filled

A minimalist Bollinger Bands indicator designed to clear the chart and simplify technical analysis.

You are too confused with the complicated zigzag lines of the traditional BB indicator, especially when combining multiple strategies and indicators. The chart becomes messy, hiding candlesticks and making analysis difficult. This minimalist BB indicator was born to solve that.

  • Indicator type: Technical Indicator.
  • Designed with a single color fill style for simplicity and clarity.
  • Helps traders focus on candlestick patterns without losing visibility when combining with other indicators.

Why is this indicator different?

1. Fully filled with a single color: Choose a color close to the background with high transparency, making the BB almost invisible yet effective.

2. Minimalist style: Removes unnecessary zigzag lines for a clean, easy-to-read chart.

3. Flexibility: Allows overlaying with other indicators while keeping candlesticks visible for accurate price action reading.

4. Converted from TradingView idea: This is one of the TradingView concepts successfully adapted to the MT5 platform.

  • Easy installation and usage for all trader levels.
  • Optimized to work seamlessly with various chart setups.

1. How does the Minimalist Bollinger Bands differ from a standard BB — am I losing important signals by making it almost invisible?

The difference is purely visual: the indicator preserves the original BB calculations (period & deviation) while changing the rendering to a single highly-transparent fill. You are not losing the band boundaries or their trading information — you only reduce the distracting zigzag lines so candlesticks and other overlays remain visible.

If you need stronger visual cues, the indicator exposes the same inputs (period, deviations, fill color, opacity) so you can add a faint outline or increase opacity — the default minimalist mode is for clarity, not for removing information.

2. What color / transparency settings work best and how do I combine this indicator with others?

Best practice is to choose a fill color that blends with your chart background and use high transparency so the band is a subtle context layer rather than a focal point. Example settings:

  • Example color: RGB(220,255,220) (soft green).
  • Transparency: high — e.g. 70–90% transparent (≈10–30% visible opacity).
  • Default maths: Period = 20, Deviations = 2 (change these if you want tighter/looser bands).

When combining with other indicators: keep the BB fill as the background layer (very transparent), rely on concise lines from your MAs or oscillators for signals, and use price-action to confirm.

3. How should I use the indicator in a trading workflow — entries, confirmations and risk management?

Use the Minimalist BB as a context tool, not a standalone signal:

  • Mean reversion: look for price touching the outer band + a price-action rejection (pin bar, engulfing) to consider limit entries toward the midline.
  • Trend confirmation: when price rides the outer band with momentum (strong candles, higher volume), favour continuation trades in the band direction; use the midline or opposite band as potential targets.
  • Stops & sizing: place stops just beyond the outer band, size positions so a stop beyond the band matches your risk plan.
